About Us

El CENTRO was founded in November 2005 as a separate, independent, and autonomous project of Enlace Comunitario, a pro-immigrant, service-based organization, in order to organize and grow the power of low-wage immigrant workers in Albuquerque. On July 1, 2009, El CENTRO legally separated from Enlace Comunitario and incorporated as an independent non-profit agency. Since its inception, El CENTRO has grown a membership of over 5500 members, the majority of whom are low-wage immigrant workers and has been at the forefront of bold and innovative immigrants’ rights, workers’ justice, and inclusive economy campaigns in New Mexico.
